Parly Committee Meetings: 14th to 17th November

The committee meetings referred to below, all to be held at Parliament, will be open to the public. This means that members of the public may attend the meetings, but as observers only, not as participants, i.e. they may observe and listen but not speak.

ParliamentIf attending a meeting, please use the entrance on Kwame Nkrumah Ave between 2nd and 3rd Streets.  Please note that IDs must be produced.

The details given in this bulletin are based on the latest information from Parliament.  But, as there are sometimes last-minute changes to the meetings schedule, persons wishing to attend should avoid disappointment by checking with the committee clerk that the meeting concerned is still on and open to the public.  Parliament’s telephone numbers are Harare 700181 and 252940/1.

Oral evidence from  (1) the Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority [ZERA] on the energy and petroleum sector, and (2) Pedstock Investments on its operations and transactions with the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe [MMCZ].

Public Accounts Committee

The committee is due to deliberate on oral and written submissions received from Bulawayo City Council on its audited accounts for yeas ended 31 December 2010 and 31 December 2011.

Portfolio Committee: Higher Education, Science and Technology

The committee is due to review the Manpower Planning and Development Act.  This is the Act that, amongst other things, regulates the use of the Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund [ZIMDEF] and vests it in the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development as trustee.

Portfolio Committee: Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs

The committee is due to  consider its draft report on the Petition lodged by the Election Research Centre on the Alignment of Electoral Laws to the Constitution.

Portfolio Committee: Health and Child Care

The committee is due to  consider its draft report on t he proposed setting-up of the T.B. Caucus Executive Committee and crafting the Caucus’ Constitution.

Thematic Committee: HIV/AIDS

The committee is due to  deliberate on the evidence received from institutions of higher learning on HIV and AIDS information dissemination, prevention and treatment.

Thematic Committee: Indigenisation and Empowerment

The committee is due to consider its draft report on the Circumstances Surrounding the Failure to Establish Community Share Ownership Trusts in Mudzi and Mutoko Districts.

Most other committees will be formulating their work plans.
