Over 260 people have now been confirmed dead with hundreds still missing.
Cyclone Idai is the most devastating natural disaster to strike our northern neighbour Zimbabwe in recent history.
Now three weeks since Cyclone Idai struck, it’s unfortunately no longer about search and rescue, but rather about giving closure to families still digging in the mud for their loved ones.
“It was so frightening. There was some thunder accompanied by lightning. Strong winds. Trees were being bent by the strong winds. Some loud sounds of thunder and heavy showers for so many hours. I couldn’t sleep. I was so afraid. I was scared. It was so dark,” said Harold Simari, who survived the cyclone.
