The letters, dated 7 October 2026 and addressed to Local Government Minister Daniel Garwe and to Parliament, claim that Coltart, three members of the National Assembly – Surrender Kapoikilu (Bulawayo Central), Corban Madzivanyika (Mbizo) and Togarepi Zivai Mhetu (Epworth North) – and Bulawayo Province Senator Ivumile Kucaca Phulu have ceased to be members of the Citizens Coalition for Change.
Tshabangu, who has been recognised by the courts as the CCC’s de facto leader and is the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, said the letters did not originate from the party.
He dismissed them as “not true” and said he would issue a statement soon.
CCC chief whip Nonhlanhla Mlotshwa, who is aligned with Tshabangu, also dismissed the letters as “fake”.
The letters were issued by Mbuso Siso, who claims to be the party’s interim treasurer-general, raising fresh questions over the party’s leadership and who has the authority to effect recalls.
In April this year, Siso approached the Bulawayo High Court in an urgent application challenging his removal from the party by Tshabangu. He later withdrew the application.
